About Us

Hello!

I'm Katie, the maker behind The Lone Pine Company. I got my first laser in May of 2020 and have been perfecting my craft ever since. I love to create but I don't love creating the same thing over and over again, which is why you see a huge variety in my inventory. (However, if you need a bulk order, still reach out, I do bulk orders and wholesale on occasion.)

Everything I make starts as either a sheet of plywood, patterned acrylic, patterned MDF or leather. I then use my laser as a tool to engrave and cut. After that I sand, stain, paint, and assemble everything I make. When it comes to my earrings I use stainless steel, which works good for most people. When it comes to my hats, I sew my patches on. I have seen too many patches fall off that are heat pressed, and I want to make sure your hat lasts awhile.

I do other little random odds and ends depending on the time of year but no matter what you will always find earrings and hats in my setup.

I love to support other small businesses, so I try to buy all my materials and supplies from other small businesses that I have vetted for top quality. I have such a huge variety of earrings that include some of my own designs but also designs of other makers because I want to support my maker community. If I fall in love with someone else's design, I buy the rights to produce it, which helps support that other maker, and helps me offer a larger variety to my customers.

The Name

No, my products are not made of pine. When people at my markets ask where the name came from, I get two consistent guesses. The first and most common guess is that everything is made of pine. Nope. I'm a walnut girl. Most of my wood has a walnut veneer on it. The second guess is the correct guess and that is a town in California. My dad lived in the small little town of Lone Pine, California when he was in elementary school. If you have ever been to Lone Pine, you know there is absolutely nothing there or anywhere near there. However, what you do know, is how gorgeous the views are. Mount Whitney to the West and Death Valley to the East, Lone pine is nestled in between in the beautiful high desert.
